Working Girls

Working Girls, September 9, 2011

[dcs_p]Franco had a swank party last night–supposedly in honor of some pop-star who’s doing the diva round, but I never heard of the girl, and I wasn’t impressed when I met her. Victor thought she looked anorexic, but then, most of these girls do. Anyway, Franco had top-notch entertainment, and we ordered some Dom, sitting upstairs in the VIP suite when a couple of working girls showed. They were lovely Eastern European girls with bad English and beautiful bodies.  Stood-up by their dates, they wanted to hang with my group–although none of my guys were buying.[/dcs_p]Victor has a soft spot for these third world hustlers, and he got them drunk on Dom while listening to their life stories. They wanted to give him a private party, but he refused. He says they’re too young and pretty, and they shouldn’t be selling their bodies. I heard him say he’s going to help one of them get an extended VISA and a regular job, but I think that’s the champagne talking. At least, I hope it is. Victor’s getting too sentimental.[/dcs_p][dcs_p]Working Girls was written in the voice of Patricia Bellomo’s main character, mobster Louie Morelli. Party on the Stella di Mare, June 29, 2011

Party on the Stella di Mare, June 29, 2011

[dcs_p]Anthony and his family flew in yesterday, getting geared up for the big holiday weekend. In case you’ve forgotten, Anthony is my cousin. The Feds have an idea he’s running what’s left of the New Orleans mob, and they like to tail him. But it looks like they might have their own families to attend to, because we’re not seeing any familiar faces hanging about. Of course, it was family night last night–I took everybody to Trattoria Romana in Boca. We had the private room in back, so if the Feds were on the job, they weren’t seeing much.[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]Today it’s a boy’s day–no wives allowed. Victor’s setting up a party on the Stella, and we’re cruising down to Miami. My girl’s bringing along a friend for Anthony, and Buddy Shuler and his wild chick, Rachel–the one he things is an angel–are expected. Nathan’s invited, of course. We’ll pick him up in Miami and probably hang at Franco’s this evening, and there will be plenty of takers, but Nathan won’t play. He never gives in to temptation, and I really don’t know how he does it.[/dcs_p]

Bimbo in the Buff, June 1, 2011

[dcs_p]Michael and his bimbo arrived yesterday for a week of R&R. In case you’re wondering, this is the blond with the super-size implants and prescription pill habit that got him into trouble in Lake City. To play it safe, they flew into West Palm, so I don’t think I’ll have to call on any contacts in Tallahassee to get him sprung from a redneck jail, but you never can tell.  After a night of “clubbing”, the bimbo was hanging her head over the toilet bowl this morning. I thought they’d be all set for a day of rest, but Michael calls me at the office and wants to know if I’m taking the Stella out later. “Maybe to Miami,” he suggests.[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]Not a bad idea. It’s 85 degrees and sunny in Delray Beach, and I don’t need too many excuses for a play day. Plus, I don’t see my youngest son that often, and it’d be nice to spend some time with him. I call up my crew and tell them to prepare the Stella for a two o’clock departure. But I’m late leaving the office, and by the time Victor and I get to the Boca Yacht Club the bimbo’s sunbathing topless on deck, and  my deckhand, Linda, is making her pina-coladas. “Her third in an hour,” Linda reports.[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]I don’t mind drunk, topless women, and I’ve certainly had enough of them on board the Stella di Mare, but I say to Michael, “I hope you’re not serious with this girl.”[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]He laughs. “Not a chance, dad. “I’m breaking up with her next week.”[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]Yeah right. I’ve heard this before. I look at Victor, and he shrugs, “Let the kid have fun, Lou.”[/dcs_p]

Kentucky Derby Girls

Kentucky Derby Girls

The Derby Girls, May 9, 2011

[dcs_p]Victor comes back from the Kentucky Derby with two chicks. They’re out of work marketing analysts from Detroit, and they were in Louisville working a vendor’s booth.  They’re blonde and cute, and the one he introduces as Amy is having culture shock because she’s never met a real redneck before, and she met a lot of them in downtown Louisville.  She says she was hit on every which way–even by the women–and she can’t understand how nobody in Kentucky can pronounce her name.  And then she met Victor, and I’m pretty sure she liked the way he said her name.[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]  Victor brings the girls over to the marina in Boca, and they’re digging the Stella even before they set foot on deck. But I’ve got my own babe on board, and he’s going to have to entertain the ladies on his own. Victor tells Amy we’re going to cruise down to Miami, maybe hang around Franco’s tonight. “How’s that sound to you, doll?” he says.[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p] It must sound pretty good because she’s batting her big baby blues at Victor. I guess Miami’s more her style.[/dcs_p][dcs_p]The Derby Girls was written in the voice of Patricia Bellomo’s main character, mobster Louie Morelli. The Russian Revolution, May 3, 2011

The Russian Revolution, May 3, 2011

A Russian oligarch showed up at my Miami Beach nightclub last night. I wasn’t there, mind you–I’m the silent partner, but the guy who runs the place for me, Franco, tells me the Russian had an entourage of at least fifty people. The Russian booked Franco’s upstairs lounge and VIP room, and proceeded to throw a party that lasted until five the next morning. The guy ordered four bottles of Dom Perignon White Gold Jerobaum, the forty thousand dollar stuff, but the best Franco could do was the Dom’s 2002 champagne at the bargain price of 189.99 a bottle.  The Russian wasn’t too happy, but Franco’s is a South Beach hotspot, not a Monte Carlo casino.

The Russians went through eighteen bottles. Franco only had ten in the cellar, and he called me when they uncorked the eighth, and I placed a call to a wine distributor I know in Fort Lauderdale, and he hustled over another ten bottles. It was two in the morning, mind you, but the distributor owes me. He calls me the next day and says, “Lou, I’ve never seen anything like it. There were about a dozen women working the party, all blond and Eastern European, and by the time I arrived, most were naked.”

Hmm. It’s probably just as well that I missed it. I asked Franco what the take was, and he said the Russians are welcome anytime.
