Mob Blog: Diamond’s Are a Girl’s Best Friend, December 22, 2012

[dcs_p]Victor says, “Lou, it’s true what they say: Diamond’s are a girl’s best friend.”[/dcs_p][dcs_p]Hmm. I’ve got to think about this. Victor’s right, of course. Diamond’s are a girl’s best friend, and a man’s too, sometimes. I mean, they can accomplish things words can’t, but then, you have to be certain of the message you want to convey. For my wife, who has more diamonds than most women, the magical stone is emblematic of how much I value her. It’s also served to get me out of the doghouse from time to time.  And for my girlfriend … well I think I’ll skip the diamonds this year. I don’t want to give her any ideas of permanence.[/dcs_p][dcs_p]So why all this talk about diamonds? Well, it’s the 22nd of December and Victor and I are Christmas shopping. And where did we go? My good friend Ari Klein Jewelers on Worth Avenue. You might remember Ari from Stella di Mare. Ari’s what they call a “stand up guy.” Anyway, he knows my taste and my budget (not to mention my lifestyle), and he’s got the goods lined up for me. So in about twenty minutes I get gifts for my wife and beatuiful princess of a daughter, Stella, and yes … for my girlfriend.[/dcs_p][dcs_p]Patricia Bellomo is the author of the crime thrillers, Louie Morelli’s Daughter and Stella di Mare. Mob Blog: Dog Days of Summer, August 2, 2012

[dcs_p]I think the dog days are here. I’m lying on the beach, watching my grand-kids playing in the surf. Angie and Stella are bustling about because they’re putting on a Full Moon party tonight, a monthly occurrence around here. Victor’s been recruited to barbecue; he’s had ribs marinating since last night. Now he brings me a cold one, and I gaze out at the ocean, dotted with sails and speedboats. An August haze hangs on the horizon where an oil tanker glides it way slowly southward. Victor wants to talk, but I don’t even have energy for this.  I close my eyes, drowsing, feel the sun’s warmth on my face. It’s the dog days of summer.[/dcs_p][dcs_p]

Mob Blog: Busted on the Stella di Mare, June 16, 2012

[dcs_p]I’ve got the Stella di Mare in slip at the Miami Marina. Victor and I came down yesterday morning, bringing along our girlfriends, the ones that “just want to have fun.” They’re also pretty damn good to look at. So it was the perfect afternoon, the girls were sunning themselves on deck and sipping a little of the bubbly and getting silly in the way that I don’t mind, when my son, Michael, shows up with three buddies in tow. So now I’m busted. And there’s no excuse–the girls don’t even put on their bathing suit tops. His friends are loving it. Michael says, “Dad,” and I put my arm around him and say, “Maybe you should call first.” I don’t ask him not to tell his mother; we both know he won’t.[/dcs_p]Patricia Bellomo is the author of the sexy crime thrillers, Louie Morelli’s Daughter and Stella di Mare. On board the Stella di Mare, and heading out for a little Bahamian adventure. It’s a boy’s weekend–which really means no wives. Girlfriends are allowed, even encouraged. My girl invited a hot friend for my cousin, Anthony, but Victor showed up with the klepto–the chick who get’s turned-on by shoplifting. It’s noon, and she’s already sloshed. Victor likes them wild, but not drunk. He’s considering dumping her in Miami when we stop to pick-up Nathan.[/dcs_p][dcs_p]Bahamiam Adventure is a little anecdote reflective of Patricia Bellomo’s main character, mobster Louie Morelli. Mob Blog: March Madness In Miami, March 15, 2012

[dcs_p]It’s March Madness in Miami. Only this madness has nothing to do with basketball or brackets. It’s more about the rackets–the Russian rackets and a couple of big name rappers who showed up at my nightclub in Miami last night.[/dcs_p][dcs_p]Actually, I wasn’t even in attendance, but my manager and business partner, Franco, tells me that the Russians aren’t the only ones who dig Dom Perignon. Franco had a big-name rapper show up last evening with an entourage of fifty. First thing he requested was ten bottles of the bubbly. Franco said everything was fine until the rapper’s chick started making eyes with a Cuban dealer on the dance floor. Next thing you know, fists were flying. Out came the Sig; fortunately, nobody was shot and Miami PD hauled off the offenders.[/dcs_p]Franco said the club was so jammed, half the patrons didn’t realize there was a scuffle. The rapper smacked his chick and ordered more Dom and a bottle of Louis X111 cognac. So Franco wasn’t complaining. All he said was, “Lou, you missed a good show. It’s March madness at Franco’s.”[/dcs_p][dcs_p]March Madness was written from the point of view of Patricia Bellomo’s mobster, Louie Morelli.
