Breakfast at the Breakers, September 28, 2011
[dcs_p]Business meet at the Breakers in Palm Beach. Victor and I took the scenic route; A1A from Delray to Palm Beach. It’s slow going, even in the off season, but well worth it. Anyway, we’re meeting a gent from Jersey who wants to get in on a project I’ve got going in Manalapan. The deals all on the up and up, and I’m looking for investors who can put money on the table without the Feds swooping in to grab it. So we meet the guy in The Circle Restaurant, which is pretty awesome, with a Renaissance theme and outstanding ocean views. [/dcs_p] My Jersey pal is a little less impressive. For one, he’s got the whole look going–like he’s auditioning for a rerun on The Soprano’s. Dyed black hair and snakeskin shoes, a gold serpentine chain and black silk jacket. Did I mention it’s breakfast? Before we sit down I already know I don’t want his money, but I let him talk. He says the F-word a dozen times, and then he starts dropping names like a glad-handing pol, and I wonder … is this guy for real?
