Mob Blog: Sunday Mass
[dcs_p]Angie says to me, “Louie, take me to the cathedral. I want to go to mass.”[/dcs_p][dcs_p]We’re in New Orleans and my wife wants to go to church. How can I refuse? So I say, “Sure, baby,” and I call up one of Anthony’s men, an off duty cop, and arrange for him to take us into the city. Angie’s happy as can be, and then she comes in while I’m getting dressed, and she sees me put my Beretta in the inside pocket of my jacket, and her mouth goes tight, and she says, “Really, Louie, is that necessary?”[/dcs_p][dcs_p]Patricia Bellomo is the author of the sexy mob thrillers, Louie Morelli’s Daughter and Stella di Mare. She writes about mobsters and millionaires in South Florida and New Orleans. Books available at Amazon & B&N, also in ebook format.

Mob Blog: Black Sunday, November 6, 2012
[dcs_p]”It’s the lines, Lou,” my friend says to me. We’re sitting at a breakfast joint on Linton, in Delray Beach. My friend has had a rough week. He’s down a hundred grand from Sunday’s action alone. In fact, I just handed him eighty thousand in cash, in a plastic Winn Dixie bag. It killed my buddy to ask me, but he’s been in business forty years, and it’s not the first time I’ve extended a helping hand. I know he’s good for it.[/dcs_p][dcs_p]Vegas is calling what happened on Sunday as “Black Sunday,” because the bettors cleaned up on straights and slips. According to my friend, it’s their fault. “Vegas can’t put out a decent line anymore,” he says, lamenting the days of Jimmy the Greek. He gives a sad shake of his head. “It’s not a good time to be a bookmaker, Lou.”[/dcs_p][dcs_p]Patricia Bellomo is the author of the crime thrillers, Stella di Mare and Louie Morelli’s Daughter. Louie Morelli’s Daughter / Trick or Treat
Mob Blog: Trick Or Treat, October 31, 2012
[dcs_p]Stella calls me at the office. “Daddy,” she says, “don’t forget it’s Halloween. We’re taking Isabella begging.”[/dcs_p][dcs_p]”Don’t worry, baby,” I say. “I haven’t forgotten.”[/dcs_p][dcs_p]Of course, I had forgotten all about Halloween. In fact, I made plans with a female acquaintance for a treat of a different sort. But family comes first, and now I call up my friend and tell her it’s a no-go. Trick or treat.[/dcs_p][dcs_p]Patricia Bellomo is the author of the crime thrillers, Louie Morelli’s Daughter and Stella di Mare. [dcs_p]Mob Blog: The Inn on Fifth, October 25, 2012[/dcs_p]
[dcs_p]Naples today. I’m at the Inn of Fifth for a business meet. The inn’s in the heart of downtown Naples, a charming boutique hotel. We’re in a small conference room upstairs, overlooking the courtyard pool. It’s a conservative group—five men in suits. The man who called the meeting, a big name developer, has his “secretary” with him. I recognize the young lady instantly. She’s an employee of a Pompano Beach men’s club. Not that I frequent the club, but I’m pretty sure she dated Victor for awhile. In fact, I know she did. She’s blond and big-breasted, with roses tattooed on her breasts. She’s wearing a blue dress, and the roses aren’t visible, but I remember how much she liked to show them off.[/dcs_p][dcs_p]She catches my eye, gives me a little smile. “I’m in a new line of work,” she says. “It’s corporate.”[/dcs_p][dcs_p]Patricia Bellomo is the author of the crime thrillers, Louie Morelli’s Daughter and Stella di Mare. [dcs_p]My niece, Mia, barges into my office. She’s just driven across the state to get to me, and I don’t know how she managed because she’s hysterical. “It’s Nelson,” she sobs.[/dcs_p][dcs_p]Hmm. Nelson is the new Mr. Wonderful, her fiancee of a few short weeks. In fact, Angie and I attended the engagement party last month. Nelson seemed okay, but I was skeptical due to Mia’s track record with men. Nelson is the sales manager at the Chevy dealer she works for in Tampa. Turns out, Mia caught him in the storage closet with a sexy little co-worker. The girl was on her knees … Need I say more?[/dcs_p][dcs_p]”I want you to send someone to beat him up,” Mia announces.[/dcs_p][dcs_p]”Honey, I can’t do that,” I tell her.[/dcs_p][dcs_p]”You can too,” she says. “You can make someone disappear if you want to. I know you can.”[/dcs_p][dcs_p]Jeez. Mia wants me to whack a guy for getting a little action. Nelson’s probably a jerk, but I guess he’s a bit of an opportunist too. I can’t even blame the guy. “Honey,” I say, “I think you’ve been misinformed about my character.”[/dcs_p][dcs_p]Patricia Bellomo is the author of the crime thrillers, Stella di Mare, and Louie Morelli’s Daughter. Mob Blog: Monday Morning
Mob Blog: Monday Morning, October 8, 2012
[dcs_p]Monday morning, and I’m planning a normal week. I have a meet up in Orlando, and Victor and I are getting ready to hit the turnpike when my cousin, Anthony, calls. He’s having an issue with a reluctant investor, a man who has a lot to be thankful for. The guy owes me, big time. But Anthony tells me the job I got the man at the state capital in Baton Rouge has gone to his head. He thinks he’s untouchable, claims he doesn’t have to pay his dues. Now, I’m pissed. I tell Victor, “Cancel the meet. We’re going to New Orleans.”[/dcs_p]Patricia Bellomo is the author of the crime thrillers Louie Morelli’s Daughter and Stella di Mare.
