Charlotte Featherstone: March 2016

My daughter purchased all four of your books for my birthday. I finally had the time to sit and read them and I love your work and your characters. I read Louie Morelli’s Daughter first. I loved it!!! So I decided to read them in order as I should have in the first place. I just finished Louie Morelli’s Mistress. Loved that one also. Now I am on Stella di Mare. I just wanted to drop a line and tell you how much I enjoy your work. I did NOT get bored once reading your books. I will be telling all my friends about them.

Caroleen Hoffman: May 2, 2016

Good afternoon, Patricia. I had met you an a lovely snowy night in March at the Italian Cultural Center. I bought two of your books: Louie Morelli’s MIstress and Stella di Mare. I told you I would let you know how I liked them. Well, I loved them. I could not put them down.  I ordered two more of your books and read them on my iPad. Within two weeks I had read all four books and wanting more!! Thank you so much for the entertainment.

RJ McKay: Goodreads Review:  July 2015

No one messes with the family of Louie Morelli. Rich and connected, Morelli is everything the reader expects from a Mafia Prince.

Hidden behind a façade of beauty and glamour is a world of violence, vengeance and revenge. This is the world of Louis Morelli. On the outside his life is one of ocean views, fine dining and beautiful women, but under the surface his world is brimming with powerful men who will stop at nothing to get what they want.

And when someone makes the mistake of threatening Louie’s family, they better watch out. When Louie discovers that his son Tony is being black mailed by an escort and her associates, he reaches out to a Russian connection to get to the bottom of it. But this is only beginning of the troubles that he will face in Patricia Bellomo’s new book “The Prince of Mafia Princes”.

While this book is the fourth book in the series, a reader picking up this book will have little trouble identifying the characters and settling into the plot. This book is entertaining and fast-paced .

Amazon Review: July 9, 2015

This is the fourth in the Louie Morelli series. I have not read any of the previous books, but it is easy to follow and be able to read this independently of any of the other books. It is a steady read with graphic violence and sexual content. I would recommend this book to adult readers. The characters can be confusing at times, but there is enough background information that I was able to remember who the author was referring to at times. The story line is enjoyable to read, but with the details that the author provides, it ends up being a little predictable. I expected more violence honestly with the mafia involvement; however, it seemed as if the incidents in the book were taken care of in a matter of fact manner. It was refreshing to read. The whole story basically begins with Louie checking in on his son Tony and not understanding why he was acting so unlike himself. Without giving too much detail away from the plot of the story, I’ll just say that sex complicates everything. This complication basically drives the entire book’s plot and brings the reader to the very end. Everything is wrapped up neatly at the end and there is nothing left open ended. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Format: Kindle Edition

This novel is the fourth one in a series about Louie Morelli, the boss of an Italian crime family living and operating on Florida. I enjoyed reading about the deep connection that Louie had to his family and also those who worked for him. This story revolves around his son, Tony, and the Russian mafia here in the United States. I enjoyed the characters in this book and felt invested in the outcome. Although it was obvious that Louie had done a lot of very bad things, I was still rooting for him and his family. This was the first book in the series that I read, but I would be very interested in reading the other novels as well so that I could learn even more about this high profile mafia family. The author, Patricia Bellomo, has done a good job at writing a book that keeps you interested until the very end. I would not recommend this book to anyone under the age of 18 due to its graphic violence and sexual content.

Format: Kindle Edition

Patricia Bellomo’s book “The Prince of Mafia Princes” does not pretend to be something it is not. This is not a master suspense filled drama story with a multitude of plot twist and underlining themes of criminology, Cosa Nostra, and family patriarchy. This is a simple story on the surface used as a vehicle to illustrate the author’s wonderful talent to create highly detailed characters and describe elaborate restaurants and hotels throughout South Florida. Bellomo is clear that the portrayal of the Louie Morelli series is not intended to be high brow, thought provoking works of fiction. She does however highlight its strengths, which is overall a fun experience once expectations are left behind and the reader can indulge in the world she created for us. Some readers may prefer less details and have the luxury to create the world in their own imagination but they would be missing the point. Bellomo is in charge of the ride and Louie Morelli is our chauffeur, taking us into a place where sex, violence, money, and power lurk around every turn. what is there not to enjoy? If you are honest with your expectations of this book, you can find what I found which was a genuine page turner. This allowed me to just consume these pages without over thinking or over analyzing what “The Prince of Mafia Princes” is not and simply focus on what it is, a legitimate fun tale that makes myself interested in reading her other tales in this series. If you keep an open-mind, you too can find yourself up at 2 in the morning wondering what will happen next.

I really enjoyed The Prince of Mafia Princes. It is a wonderfully written narrative about a wealthy family in the Florida area. The patriarch of the family is Louie Morelli. He handles every situation that he or anyone in his family finds themselves. It does not always work out well for those involved. What won’t he do for his family…Patricia Bellomo has written a gripping story, with many twists and turns. I enjoyed reading it throughly. It was a guilty pleasure and I lost myself in it. Intrigue, justice, blackmail, affairs, honor, truth, The Prince of Mafia Princes has it all.

This is the fourth book in a series but I was able to read it cover to cover without any issues or needing more backround details. It has made me want to get the three previous books so that I can enjoy more of the story. There were too many parts of the book that I enjoyed for me to pick just one. My favorite character was Louie, so stoic and strong.

I think this would be a good book for young adults or adults that enjoy action and suspense. The language and themes might be a little strong for younger teens.

I very much enjoyed this book by Patricia Bellomo. I was surprised by the edginess she adds to the story and characters, you wouldn’t know it by the her picture, she looks like the nice next door neighbor mom. She has captured well all the underworld life of Florida’s rich and famous. How money talks and BS walks, because Louis knows what he wants and goes after it (or fixes it) by whatever means it takes, that goes for family members who are being blacked mailed or businesses he is well invested into that aren’t paying up. No one is going to cheat Louis in business or in his family life. Louis can be ruthless without him even breaking a sweat over it. He also has Victor, his right hand man, that takes care of business for him; from removing certain parties that stand in his way or for backup if anyone has any ideas about harming Louis. The only problem is someone gunned down Victor, now Louis has to find out who the killer is also has threatened him in his own driveway, plus he has to keep this killer away from him and his family or he risks losing a loved one, but as he is searching things start to get messy and his perfect life starts to unravel.

Old-school charm mixed with smarts and savvy describes Louie Morelli to a tee. Only a man such as him can have many dalliances while married to a wonderful woman such as Angie. Living in Fort Lauderdale, Florida also has its perks too. The author incorporates so many tales within tales that I was always kept on my toes. I was immersed in the daily drama and action of Louie Morelli’s underground world. An unlikely partnership is that between Louie and his receptionist, Emily Myers. Louie is a ladies man, and Emily doesn’t approve. She is a married conservative woman with certain morals. And Louie always has extracurricular activities, to say the least. However, they both have an understanding of each other that is the epitome of respect. Emily is one of the few people who have earned Louie’s trust. On the surface, they are complete opposites, but in reality they hold the same values.

Yet it is Victor DeAngelis who became my favorite character because he is loyal to a fault. Victor goes above and beyond for Louie despite the danger. He is a true friend to a man who may or may not deserve it. But what is also true is that Louie never gives up on family. And Victor is family to him. This is what family is all about.

This is the fourth book in the series by Ms. Bellomo, but the first book that I have read by her. It wasn’t too difficult to understand who was who and how each of the characters were related. I found the story to be fast paced and felt it had the necessary amount of twists and turns to keep my attention. Mr. Morelli (Louie) was a likeable character despite his questionable past. A few times I found the story predictable, but Ms. Bellomo was able to throw me for a loop towards the end. Ms. Bellomo did a great job of setting up the imagery for Southern Florida. Having only been there a few times, I felt like I knew exactly where she was taking us. I was a little disappointed in the ending, but I am hoping that she wrote it that way because there will be a 5th book in the series. If given the opportunity, I would continue to read more from the Morelli series.

This review is from: The Prince of Mafia Princes (Paperback)
Definitely intriguing, interesting, and a book hard to put down. The detailed information about the characters makes it very easy to get caught up into the storyline. This book has everything that keeps the you wanting more, the twists will keep you wondering what was really going to happen. I loved the book. I consider the book more for adults.
on July 21, 2015

Let’s start with the fact that I’ve never read the other Louie Morelli books, and didn’t know they even existed before getting started. I had a hard time getting into the book, however, I can’t decide if having more back story on the character from the other books would have helped me identify with the character at first.First, I’ll say what I didn’t like. I didn’t like Louie. That’s a difficult thing to overcome. While he seems to really care about his family, his family doesn’t seem much better. His son, Tony, consorts with prostitutes and Louie himself, while he loves his wife, can’t stop cheating on her. Maybe i’m just not a “mafia story” kind of person, but his personality was arrogant and his code of ethics was a little questionable for me. The other thing I had a problem with is the fact that it was a little predictable. While I didn’t feel like I always knew what was going to happen, It felt like I knew what was going to happen before the characters did.

what I loved about the story is what some others didn’t like. I loved her details and descriptions. I lived in Florida for a while and I felt like I was back there. The pace of the story was fast and after I got into it, I read it in just a two days after work.

Overall the story is vibrant and well-written. If you’re into crime/mafia stories, you’ll probably really like this book. Lots of murder, sex, violence, and more sex. If you’re looking for a clear cut “good guy vs.bad guy” you may need to look elsewhere. This book is a little to modern for such clear cut ethics and morals.

I’m new to the Louie Morrelli series, and after reading the fourth book, I heartily recommend it, and am looking forward to reading the earlier volumes! You don’t have to read the first three books to get a sense of Louie Morrelli’s swagger as the mob boss of an Italian mafia who operates out of sunny Florida. The fast-paced, well-written violent and sexually explicit scenes reminded me of some of thriller writer, Victor Gischler’s best writing. Additionally, I really enjoyed the action and the rich imagery and characterization that author Bellomo provides in the text. This was a fun and quick summer read, and the process of reading it felt like I was watching a movie. I just needed the popcorn!

I would begin this review with a recommendation to read the first three Louie Morelli Books first. This book and characters will be so much more detailed if you begin with them. With that being said this author has a knack for painting a scene and being very descriptive, which is great for people who prefer to not have to imagine their surroundings in a novel. The characters are well developed but can seem to be very stereotypical.

In this book we learn of Louie’s son Tony who is being blackmailed by some escorts and things go south from there. The Russian Mafia gets involved and this story features murdered call girls, gunned down friends, chasing the bad guys and then the FBI.

Will Louie be able to save his reputation as a South Florida Businessman or will the FBI take him down as just another mob boss, or will the assassin finally catch up with him?

on July 12, 2015
Louie Morelli is head of a crime family, but old school with some old school ethics. He respects women and children. Louie’s son gets involved with a nasty Russian crime syndicate and Louie gets right into the midst of things to help out his son. Louie is married and loves his wife, but always has a mistress on his arm. If you are offended by extra marital affairs or if you are offended by crime family killings this is not the book for you. However, if you are just looking for a good story with a varied cast of characters then I recommend this book. I enjoyed it. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Five Stars for Louie Morelli’s Mistress

Net Galley Review, May 10, 2015

“I requested this book for review. Somewhere down the line it got shoved to the bottom of the review pile and by the time it got to the top I was reluctant to start on it. I could not imagine what drew me to the book at the start.

Eventually, I started on it and could not put it down. From organized crime, old fashioned mafia bosses to voodoo, this book has it all. Mercedes is twisted. Her daughter even more so.

The ending, however, sent shivers down my spine. I cannot imagine who would not be attracted by one or more facet in this book. It has been a long time since I last read a mafia book and enjoyed it this much. Given, the supernatural angle, but still … This was an exceptionally good read.”

This novel captures the atmosphere of New Orleans, and uses it to advantage in developing the story. It is not a “mobster” story, even though one of the main characters is a criminal boss. I enjoyed the descriptions of the people and places, but they did not get in the way of a very well-told story. Surprise after surprise awaits as the story develops, and even when the reader has a suspicion of coming events, they occur in novel ways. It is an exciting read, and leaves you with much interest in what might happen in the future. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for a fascinating story that is far afield from the typical romance or action thriller.
From Donna Fischer, June 29, 2014:  “I met you at the pool at the Ragge Edge (Islamorada, FL Keys) earlier this year. I downloaded Louie Morelli’s Mistress to my kindle after my vacation. Sincerely, A new fan, Donna.”
From Vincent Clark, February 2014:  “Great book!!! Threw your book (Louie Morelli’s Mistress) in my breifcase as I was heading off to New Orleans for vacation. Great read. From Maureen George, August 2013:  “Met you in Marine City at Morelli’s Diner a few weeks ago. I just finished reading your three books and really enjoyed them. Please keep writing. You had me all the way. I can’t get enough of this family. Please get the next one out soon. Thank you.”

Patricia Bellomo is a Fabulous writer, she enthralls her readers with suspense and romance. I have and will continue to recommend any book that is written by her.
“Patricia, I finished reading about Mercedes, Cici, Robert, and that incredible Louie. What characters! You made them seem so real! I liked that the scene was in New Orleans. You obviously did a lot of research or you have spent some time down there. I enjoyed my visit many years ago. The best part of your writing is your ability at description. You make the scene come alive and I could easily picture everything in my mind’s eye. An interesting plot; not at all predictable. The many chacrters come alive on the pages. I can’t wait until you write another book. I really enjoyed this one. Thanks. …. Chuck McQueen, Accordionist/CPA

From reader Charmayne Boggio, June 2013: “Met you at Luciano’s and then at Penna’s, at which time I purchased your book, Louie Morelli’s Mistress. Wow. very entertaining read. Loved it. Never expected the ending. I am looking forward to reading the next book.”

From Dad of Divas’ Reviews / http://dadofdivas-reviews.blogspot.com/2011/05/book.review-louie-morellis-daughter.html.co

This book is a page turner.  As a reader you are taken on a journey where you must figure out where Louie’s loyalties lie. You are also brought into a world of crime, where loan sharks will take your loved ones to settle a debt, not a world that I want to be meeting anytime soon. I have to say that this book was a fun and engaging read. While there were parts where I was simply flabbergasted by the audacity of the characters, I was drawn into the book, and I found it to be one that I could simply not put down.  Tuesday, May 3, 2011 / From Dad of Divas

It would mean a lot to me. I adore your writings. I am a fan of your thundering wordsmanship.”  Obaidur Rahman
